Priviet (Hello) from Kiev

We made it with no major issues except a few items removed from our carry on luggage.  No big deal.  Here is a quick summary of the past 2 days:

6/4 Morning - drop Hannah and Micah off at the Tea's.  We had a time of prayer with Brenda and all the kids before leaving.  We left very sad but knowing that our kids are with a great family.

6/4 Early Afternoon - arrive in Charlotte airport thanks to John and Sharon.  Much easier than the long lines in Atlanta.  We had no problems with the weight of our luggage but TSA took 2 large jars of peanut butter that we had in our carry on luggage.

6/4 Late Afternoon - arrive in Boston.  We had to take a shuttle from one terminal to another.  The traffic in the airport was crazy at 6 PM on a Friday.  Thanks to free wifi we were able to video skype the kids.  It was great to see their faces and smiles.  Micah was trying to cheer us up by making funny gestures on the video.

6/4 Evening - We board our Lufthansa flight.  The service was great but we were crammed in so it was hard to sleep.  One major blessing was being able to watch "The Blind Side".  It is about an older boy who was taken in and then adopted by a family.  It was great to watch the movie while on our way to adopt Elena.

6/5 Morning - arrive in Munich (6 hours ahead of east coast time), it should be night for us but it is early morning.  Very nice place to stay over.  We enjoyed a good German restaurant in the airport terminal.  Only bummer was no free wifi.

6/5 Afternoon - arrive in Kiev.  Tonya our American facilitator arranged for us to get priority service in customs/immigration.  We were processed through immigration, got our bags and when through customs in about 5 minutes.  We actually had to wait for Nastya, our Ukraine translator to get to the terminal.

6/5 Late Afternoon/Early Evening - Nastya takes us to our apartment and gets us set up.  We experience our first Ukraine blackout, as we lose electricity in the apartment about 30 minutes after we arrive.  She shows us around Independence Square, shows us the market and a few restaurants and helps us exchange some money.  After she goes back home, we spend some time walking around and enjoying the beautiful day.  It was sunny and in the mid 70s.

6/5 - Evening - We go shopping and return having electricity (yeah!!!), skype the kids again and then Lauren goes to sleep.  I said good night to the kids and they laughed and said you mean afternoon.

Children singing and dancing in the Square

No Parking Sign (The traffic engineer geek in me comes out)
