Almost There!

Had to run out tonight and get a luggage scale.  A good friend found one at the Container Store.  The closest store is down by Perimeter Mall about 25 minutes away.  We have a 50 pound limit on our one checked in bag per person.  There is also a limit on our carry on luggage but we do not believe that this is a strict limit.  We are bringing a lot of items that we will be leaving there like crafts for the kids and gifts for different people we will be meeting in Ukraine, so hopefully the weight will not be an issue on the way back.

We got a call today from Tonya our American facilitator (she has been such a blessing, we would highly recommend using her if you are planning to adopt from Ukraine) that the Ukraine parliament  (Verkhovna Rada) had a vote today on putting a moratorium on all  foreign adoptions in Ukraine.  Thankfully it was voted down.  We could not find out any more information about this and  we do not know the details, but we will pass on information as we learn more.  This is a huge praise report.

Tomorrow (Thursday) is Elena's 11th birthday.  Hopefully Lauren and the kids will call and get through to her to wish her a happy birthday and let her know that we are leaving the next day to adopt her.  We are all getting excited but a little edgy with one another.  The kids are having a hard time sleeping and keep coming in our room at night.

Jay has one more item to complete at work tomorrow before leaving.  He is working on a 100 page report for the City of Roswell.  The report is a plan for the implementation of leading edge technology related to traffic and transportation within the City of Roswell (it is called intelligent transportation systems or ITS).  It is about 97 percent complete.  Jay will be much more relaxed once this is submitted tomorrow afternoon.  Jay also has to meet with Tonya tomorrow to get a few last minute items to bring over and a final list of instructions/tips.

Tomorrow night is our last night with the kids before leaving.  Both Hannah and Micah said that they wanted to have pancakes for a special last night dinner.  We will then follow that up with ice cream and games before going to bed.

The next time we post it should be from the Ukraine.  We will take plenty of pictures and video to post on the blog.  Please keep us in your prayers for safe travel.
